Paul Rand was an American art director
and graphic designer, who even remains
after his death in 1996, one of the most
famous graphic designers in the world.
Rand revolutionised graphic design and
had a great influence on the work of graphic
designers of his period. Rand was born in
Brooklyn in 1914 to a jewish orthodox family.
He was educated at the Pratt Institute
and Parsons The New School for Design. Rand
taught design at Yale University in Connecticut.
He is best known for designing corporate
logos, including logos for IBM, UPS, Enron,
Morningstar, ABC, Westinghouse and Steve
Job's NeXT. Rand initially gained reputation
for his early work in page design.
He deisgned for Apparel Arts, Direction, Esquire-Coronet magazines and so the "Paul Rand look" developed.
