China fines GlaxoSmithKline $490 million for bribing hospitals

A Chinese court has fined the multinational
pharmaceutical company GlaxoSmithKline
$490 million dollars (or 379 million euro),
the highest ever corporate fine in China.
The tribunal find the company responsible
of organizing a giant bribery scheme
involving hospitals and doctors surgeries
across the country.
The court also sentenced GlaxoSmithKline's
country manager, Mark Reilly, and four
other managers to prison sentences. However,
the sentences were suspended although
Reilly must leave the country. GSK were fined in 2012, $3 billion dollars for marketing drugs for unapproved uses.
