Is climate change a threat to public health?

Is climate change a threat to public health?
According to the latest study by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate
Change (IPCC), our basic needs
such as food, water, clean air
and a roof could be compromised.

Global warming is not just a
environmental issue, it is also a issue
of public health and safety.
The World Health Organization
(WHO) has demanded to take part this
week in the international negotiations to
agree on an international treaty regarding
the reduction of carbon emissions.

Why does the scientific community sustain the view that
climate change is the biggest threat to public health? The conditions climate change will bring will alter the mating season and geographical distribution of mosquitoes, ticks and snails, the biggest disease transmitters on the planet.

The WHO is particularly concerned with the spread of Malaria, which kills one million people a year, the majority are children, and dengue. Dengue is predicted to infect billions of people by 2080. It is predicted dengue will spread throughout the South of Europe due to global warming and raising temperatures.
Air quality and lack of water is also predicted to raise alarm. The WHO is also particularly concerned with the predicted increase in skin cancer, heat waves and depression in natural disaster survivors.
