David Cronenberg (Eastern Promises, A Dangerous Method),
directs Maps to the Stars, a film about a Hollywood
family on the verge of implosion. It plays on the
current celebrity-obsessed culture. The screen play
was written by Bruce Wagner who wrote the book
Dead Stars based on the Maps to the Stars storyline.
The Weiss family have found fame through Dr. Stafford
Weiss (John Cusack) and his role as a high-profile
TV psychologist. Cristina Weiss (Olivia Williams) is
Dr. Weiss's wife and also sister, having been separated
at birth and then re-united. They are trying to get
their son Benjie Weiss (Evan Bird) back on track in
his child star career after a stint in rehab. Their
daughter Agatha Weiss (Mia Wasikowska) is also
battling out her demons when she takes on a job
as Havanas (Jualinne Moore) personal assistant;
a quickly fading Hollywood actress living in the
shadow of her legendary movie-star mother.
The film also stars Robert Pattinson and Sarah Gadon,
and was released on the 26th of September 2014.
