Bruce Springsteen's legedary album "Born in the USA" was
released on the 30th of October 1984, 30 years to the date.
The album gave Springsteen his first taste of international
rock superstardom; with songs that topped the Billboard
Charts, incliding "Dancing in the Dark", "Cover Me",
"Born in the USA" and "Glory Days". Born in the USA's
lyrics expressed signs of hope for the average American
pursuing the American Dream. The album was the best-selling
album of 1985 in the United States. Springsteen was
born to a working-class family and many of his lyrics
reflect his tough relationship with his father. His
songwriting follows themes of dissatisfaction, dismay with
everyday life, and addresses issues of national identity
especially after the legacy of Vietnam. The album cover,
photographed by Annie Leibovitz, became an icon in
American culture. The "Boss" has sold more than 120
million records worldwide making him one of the best-selling
artists of all time.
